What we collect
NowHum collects the information needed to provide your intelligence library, including your email address, account and session information, and the content or links you choose to save or connect to the service.
When you connect a social platform, we may receive the account identifiers, saved-item details, post details, and OAuth tokens issued to NowHum after you approve access. We never ask you to send us a platform password, browser cookie, or OAuth token directly.
When you save an Instagram post, NowHum may look up the public profile of the account that posted it, using only what anyone can see logged out.
If you use Continue with Google, Google tells NowHum your name and email address, and that it has checked the email. NowHum never gets your Google password or any other access to your Google account.
When you import a platform archive, NowHum reads the archive in your browser and sends only the saved-item links needed to build your library. The ZIP file itself is not uploaded. Re-imports are deduplicated so an item already in your library is not stored twice.
When you DM NowHum on X or Instagram, we receive your account ID on that platform, what you write, and what you share: posts, links, photos and videos. You don't need a NowHum account for this. We keep it so NowHum can answer you and so it's in your library if you sign up. If you send NowHum a voice note on Instagram, NowHum turns it into text so it can answer what you said. It keeps an encrypted transcript, not the audio.
When you send a link to a web page or a YouTube video, NowHum saves the link and reads the page the way a signed-out visitor would. It identifies itself as NowHum and only opens public addresses. For a YouTube video, NowHum watches up to the first 10 minutes. We keep the link, the page's title and text, and what NowHum understood from it.
When you DM NowHum a photo, video or Story on Instagram, a photo or video on X, or share an Instagram post with photos, NowHum keeps a private, encrypted copy with your library item, so you can still see it if it disappears from Instagram or X. Photos are kept up to 15 MB and videos up to 100 MB each, up to 2 GB in total on Free or 20 GB on a paid plan. Past those limits, NowHum doesn't keep a copy, and it tells you when your storage is full or a video is over 100 MB. NowHum also keeps a private copy of the preview image for each Instagram or TikTok post you save, deleted when you delete that save or your account.
If you connect an AI app to NowHum (for example Claude, ChatGPT or Perplexity), we keep a record of that connection, the permissions you gave it, and a short log of what it asked for.
TikTok direct messages
This is how TikTok direct messages work, when this is available. When you send a TikTok post to NowHum's TikTok account by direct message, NowHum reads only the messages you send to that account. It saves the shared post to your library, with its public details and transcript, and links your TikTok sender to your NowHum account the same way as X and Instagram. We reply only inside the conversation you started. Disconnecting or deleting your account removes what we got from TikTok as the Data Deletion page describes.
How we use it
We use this information to operate, secure, and improve NowHum; to deliver requested features; and to communicate with you about your account or support request.
NowHum uses AI to do its job. When you save or send something, NowHum sends what it needs to an AI provider to understand it: the post's text, captions and comments, photos, a video (or its transcript), or a web page's text. It does the same to sort your library into topics and to answer the question you asked about a post.
NowHum keeps the results (what it understood, transcripts, answers and their sources) with your item, so the same item isn't paid for twice. Apart from the private copies of media you DM, NowHum doesn't keep downloaded video files.
Your connected AIs
Memory is gone. Lines you saved before are kept until you delete your account, are in your data download, and AIs you connect can't see them. NowHum never keeps card, bank or ID numbers, passwords or sign-in codes in Memory.
An AI you connect can read what you allowed when you connected it: your library, and, if you said yes, your notes. You can turn each of these off for each AI, or disconnect it, on your Account page. NowHum never shares your Memory or library with an AI you didn't connect.
Sharing
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We use these service providers to run NowHum. Each gets only what its part needs:
- Cloudflare: hosting, our database and the private storage for media copies.
- Google (Gemini): understanding posts, photos, videos, voice notes and web pages, writing NowHum's replies, and sorting your saves into topics.
- AssemblyAI: transcripts of longer videos.
- ScrapeCreators: public post details from social platforms, and a backup web search.
- WorkOS: sign-in, including Continue with Google.
- Postmark: sign-in emails, so it gets your email address.
- Stripe: payments. NowHum never sees your full card number.
- X, Instagram and TikTok: the platforms you connect or DM us on.
- TikTok: the TikTok direct messages you send us (when available).
These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. We may also share information when the law requires it. We'll update this list before we add a provider that receives your content.
Retention and security
Your account and library, including the messages and posts you send to NowHum, are kept while your account is active, until you delete them or your account. NowHum doesn't delete them automatically. We may retain limited records when required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.
Until October 2026, NowHum also sent Meta (Muse Wonder) what it needed to write replies, sort your library and research the web. Meta keeps that, not us, under Meta's own terms: for as long as it needs, with no set end date, and people at Meta may review it. Meta doesn't delete it on request, including when you delete your NowHum account or a post.
Private copies of the media you DM are encrypted with their own key before they're stored, so only NowHum can open them, and only for you. They're deleted with your account, or when you ask NowHum to delete your messages, never just because time has passed.
One exception: if you send NowHum a photo or video in an X chat after you've reached the Free limit, NowHum keeps that message encrypted for up to 7 days, so it can be saved to your library if you start a paid plan. If you don't, it's deleted after 7 days.
When you pair Instagram Inbox, NowHum keeps your incoming message text encrypted and retains shared-post links as part of your library until account deletion. Disconnecting stops new imports and keeps your existing Inbox. We do not retain the raw Instagram webhook payload or pairing codes.
We limit access by role, keep credentials in protected server storage, use encryption in transit and at rest where supported, and review suspected security incidents. No service can promise perfect security.
Reports and flagged content
NowHum doesn't support illegal, sexually explicit or abusive content. Only clear cases count: photos and videos NowHum clearly flags as this kind of content aren't saved, and each one counts as a strike. After two warnings, a third strike blocks the account and deletes it, as our Terms say. We keep only what's needed to keep that block in place. When something is reported to us, a person at NowHum may look at it to decide what to do. To report something, email admin@nowhum.com with the subject “Report”.
Your choices
You can download everything NowHum keeps for you at any time: Account › Download your data gives you one file with your library, notes, links, older notes and saves, and connected AIs. You can delete notes or your whole account in the app. Older notes and saves from before are kept until you delete your account. For anything else, such as correcting information or asking about a message you sent without an account, email admin@nowhum.com. You do not need a NowHum account email to ask about a message sent from a social platform. See our Data Deletion page for deletion-request details.
